Solitaire is the card game most people already know how to play without ever having read the rules — the one that shipped with every computer for twenty years. Build four foundations from ace to king, alternating colours down the tableau, and work the stock when you run out of moves.

It survives because it sits exactly between luck and skill. Not every deal is winnable, but far more are winnable than most players manage, and the difference is almost always in whether you emptied a column early enough to have somewhere to put a king.

Cards can be dragged or tapped, so it works the same on a phone as on a desktop. Nothing is timed and there is no penalty for undoing a move.
