Candy Match Pop

Candy Match Pop is a match-three puzzle across eighty levels and four chapters. The base action is the one everybody already knows — swap two neighbouring pieces to line up three or more — but as with every good game in this genre, the base action is not where the game is. Matching three is how you survive a level. Matching four or five, which produces line blasts, bombs and rainbow candies, is how you actually clear one. Each level sets its own objective: hit a score, collect a certain number of a certain colour, clear obstacles, or find keys. The move counter is the real opponent. You are never short of matches, you are short of moves, and that distinction is what separates the levels you walk through from the ones you replay.

Swap any two adjacent candies to form a line of three or more of the same colour and they clear, dropping new candies from above. Matching more than three creates a special candy: four in a row gives a line blast, a larger or L-shaped match gives a bomb, and five gives a rainbow candy that clears every piece of whichever colour you swap it with. Each level tells you its goal and gives you a fixed number of moves to reach it.

Play from the bottom of the board upward. Clearing low pieces makes everything above them fall, which frequently produces free cascades you did not have to spend a move on. Resist the urge to take every match you see — a three-match that does nothing for the objective is a wasted move, and on later levels you have none to waste. Combining two special candies is almost always worth setting up over using them separately; a bomb swapped into a line blast clears vastly more than the two do individually. And read the objective before your first move, not after your third. Half the failed levels in this genre are lost by players clearing the wrong colour efficiently.
