About Tower Siege

Tower Siege takes the usual tower defence loop and adds one restriction that changes everything: you do not choose what to build. Between waves you are dealt a hand of four shapes โ€” plain walls, archer posts, cannons, mortars, tesla coils โ€” and a short window to place them. What you are given is not what you wanted, and the game is about making it work anyway. The tower you finish with is therefore never the tower you planned, which is the point. Conventional tower defence rewards you for memorising an optimal layout and repeating it. This rewards you for adapting, because the same opening hand rarely comes twice and a run can be decided by whether you found a use for a wall you did not need.

How to Play Tower Siege

Each round has two phases. First you build: take the shapes from your hand and place them onto the tower, fitting them together as the structure grows upward. Then the wave arrives โ€” goblins, boar-beasts, burning hounds, bone knights and siege engines come for the tower, and your placements fight automatically. Survive and you are dealt a new hand for the next round. The tower falling is the end of the run.

Controls

Placement is done entirely by pointing: click and place on desktop, tap and place on mobile. The whole game is designed to be playable one-handed on a phone, so there is nothing that needs a keyboard.

Tips and Tricks

Walls are not filler. They are the cheapest way to keep your shooters alive, and a wave that spends three seconds chewing through a wall is three seconds your archers are firing for free. Spread your damage types rather than stacking one kind; the enemy roster is mixed on purpose, and a tower made entirely of cannons will be walked over by whatever cannons are bad against. Build upward but keep the base wide โ€” a top-heavy tower loses everything at once when the lower section goes. And place your most fragile pieces where the approach is longest, not where the view is best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose which towers to build?

No. You play the hand you are dealt each round, and working around an awkward hand is the core of the game.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It is built to be played one-handed on mobile as well as with a mouse on desktop.

Is there an end, or does it go forever?

You play until the tower falls, so how far you get is the score.
