Mini Golf 3D

Mini golf works as a video game for the same reason it works as a real activity: the rules are trivial and the execution is not. Aim, pick your power, hit. Everything interesting comes from the layout — the bank you have to use because there is no straight line, the slope that returns your ball to where it started, the gap you can only clear at a power that overshoots if you miss. This version runs to more than forty holes and introduces its two hazards early: sand slows the ball to a crawl, water costs you a stroke and puts you back. Neither ends a run, which keeps the whole thing relaxed, but both wreck a good scorecard.

Aim your shot, charge the power, and release to strike. Sink the ball in as few strokes as you can. Sand traps bleed speed, so a shot that would have reached the hole stops short if it crosses one. Water costs a penalty stroke. Holes get longer and more awkward as you progress, and the later ones are built assuming you will bank off the walls rather than shoot straight.

Undershooting is almost always cheaper than overshooting. A ball that stops short leaves you a simple putt; a ball that runs past the hole often ends up somewhere with no clean angle back. Use the walls deliberately rather than as a last resort — on most later holes the banked shot is the intended solution, not a recovery. Treat sand as a wall you can cross once: plan a route around it rather than a big shot through it. And on a slope, aim above where you want the ball to finish, because it will keep drifting after it slows.
