Animal Word Search Quest

Word search is the most forgiving puzzle format there is. Every answer is already on the screen, nothing is hidden behind a mechanic, and you cannot lose. What you are actually doing is pattern recognition under no pressure, which is why these have been printed in newspapers for a century and why they work just as well on a phone. This one uses animal names throughout, which helps more than it sounds — a themed word list means your brain has a category to scan for rather than an arbitrary string of letters, and that makes the harder grids feel solvable rather than tedious.

Each puzzle gives you a grid of letters and a list of animal names to find. Words run horizontally, vertically and diagonally, and they can be forwards or backwards. Drag across a word to mark it. Find every word on the list to complete the puzzle and move to the next.

Search for a distinctive letter rather than for whole words. Most animal names contain a low-frequency letter — the Z in zebra, the X in fox, the K in monkey — and scanning for that one character is far faster than reading every row looking for a match. Work through the grid in a fixed direction rather than jumping around, so you do not cover the same area three times. Diagonals are where people lose the most time, so once the obvious horizontals and verticals are gone, switch to scanning diagonally on purpose. And cross words off as you find them — half the frustration in a word search is re-hunting something you already have.
