Fun Jigsaw Puzzle Game

A jigsaw puzzle is one of the few things you can put in front of anyone, of any age, with no explanation. Drag the pieces until the picture appears. There is no scoring, no timer and no way to lose, which sounds like it should be boring and is instead the reason people do them for hours. This version offers a collection of images to pick from, so the variable is the picture rather than the mechanic. If you want something to occupy your hands while you think about something else, this format has never been improved upon.

Choose an image, then rebuild it by dragging pieces into place. Correctly positioned pieces stay put. Finish every piece to complete the picture and pick another.

Start with the border. Edge pieces are the only ones you can identify by shape alone rather than by what is printed on them, so they are the cheapest progress available. After that, sort by colour and not by shape — your eye is much better at matching a shade than at judging whether two tabs interlock. Build small clusters in areas with strong detail and join them later, rather than trying to grow one region across the whole picture. And when you are stuck on a flat area of sky or grass, stop looking for a specific piece and start looking for a specific gap. One more habit worth building: when you finish a cluster, drag it to roughly where it belongs in the frame rather than leaving it where you assembled it. Moving finished sections early costs nothing and saves you from rebuilding your mental map of the picture every time the workspace gets crowded.
